Prof. Karl Zaenker, Ph.D.

Bio:

Karl A. Zaenker, Associate Professor, received his Staatsexamen I and II in Germany (Freiburg, Göttingen, Hannover) before completing his PhD at the University of British Columbia in 1974 (Supervisor: Michael S. Batts). His primary area of teaching and research has been early German literary history (before 1700). His special attention has been directed to the late medieval legends and texts connected with the Irish abbot, St. Brandan, on which he published a commented text edition and several articles, as well as to the field of pre-modern Reiseliteratur.
